On to 2024: Meet the New Longines Master GMT Gold Executions
In the realm of watches, the three-letter acronym “GMT,” representing “Greenwich Mean Time,” requires no introduction. For aficionados, it could equally signify “grand, magnificent, and timeless,” encapsulating the convenience of displaying dual time zones in a singular timepiece. Even in an era where every cellphone provides access to all 36 time zones, the allure for enthusiasts remains undiminished.
Longines has been producing GMT watches since the 1920s. During that decade, the brand with the winged hourglass logo, introduced the Zulu Time, a pilot’s watch featuring two time zones. To start the new year in style, Longines releases the notable elegant and classic the Longines Master Collection with GMT function, available in a pink and yellow gold series, limited to 500 pieces each.
Both new Longines are powered by the exclusive Longines L.844.5 caliber. Equipped with a silicon balance-spring and, this self-winding movement offers a magnetic resistance and a power reserve of 72 hours. Beautifully decorated with perlage and Geneva Stripes, it can be admired through the sapphire case back of the 40mm case.
The frosted silver dial is distinctive for its elegant finish. It displays a 24-hour scale in Arabic numerals on the rim, reversed at 3 o’clock and 9 o’clock for easier reading of the second time zone. A railroad minute track separates these Arabic numerals from the Roman numerals of the eleven applied gold hour markers. The date aperture appears at 6 o’clock. Gold hands mark the hours, minutes and seconds while the GMT hand is accentuated in black to tone with the 24?hour scale numerals.
The Longines Master Collection GMT is attached to an anthracite-gray leather strap, finished using a special “soft-touch” vegetable tanning process and fitted with a tongue buckle in yellow gold or rose gold.
The pricing for both references is $14,750.
